Radial Flow Reactor Internals & Solutions

Radial flow reactors feature radial gas flow moving either inward or outward. In conventional designs, reaction gas flows radially through the catalyst bed via peripheral structures mounted near the reactor wall, such as outer baskets and scalloped panels fabricated with perforated plates, wire mesh or wedge wire screens. Gas exiting the catalyst bed is gathered by central collecting components, commonly central tubes or inner baskets built from identical filtering structural materials. Reverse radial flow from the center toward the outer wall is also adopted in certain working conditions, while the fundamental internal layout remains unchanged. Additionally, radial flow reactors are equipped with auxiliary internal parts, including inlet distributors and flow deflection baffles. And critical external part expansion joint.
